MSB United Soccer is run by volunteers, and therefore as a minimum, each family group is asked to support your soccer program by volunteering for one position each soccer season. If all parents participate, the soccer program will continue to operate smoothly and efficiently. Most of the volunteer positions require only a small time commitment. Coaching and team manager positions are the most important positions to be filled, and require about 2 to 3 hours per week. We especially need more women to help coach our girls' teams.

There are always a number of important and vacant committee positions to be filled for the upcoming season. A technical knowledge of soccer is not necessary for most of these positions. Please send us an email for more information. volunteer@msbunited.com

Make two or three selections in your order of preference. If you are registering more than one child, you will be asked to volunteer for only one of your children/family.

Coaching is a vital role and we are always looking for coaches in our soccer program. Please consider coaching your children in soccer.

COACHING APPLICATION

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

MSB United Volunteer Deposit of $100.00 is required for each family (not per player). If you volunteer, you will be refunded the full amount at the end of the season.

**Please note that volunteering during your child's game or practice for regular game activities (ie. linesman, Field Marshall, setting up equipment) does not qualify you for a volunteer refund. This is a regular part of being a soccer parent.

If you cannot meet your volunteer commitments, it is your responsibility to find a replacement for the times you are needed. Please remember that MSB United Soccer is run entirely by volunteers. Your contribution is needed to help keep our program running smoothly for everyone. The more people that actively contribute, the less time will be needed for volunteering and the better our program will be.


VOLUNTEER ROLES

BOARD OF DIRECTOR POSITIONS

President

(POSITION FILLED)

The President is responsible for the general management and supervision of the affairs and operations of the Club.

Vice President of Operations

(POSITION FILLED)

The role of the Vice President(s) is to assist the President in providing leadership to the club members and to be a representative of the club to the soccer community.

The VP of Operations will focus on internal operations streamlining, financial systems and processes, club operations and technology.  They will provide input and assistance with the creation of new programs and policies, to enhance the club and promote further growth of the membership. Coordinate Club planning to ensure appropriate plans are developed, presented to and reviewed by the Committee, and enacted as required.

They will also assist with conflict resolutions for the Club.

Vice President of Administration

(POSITION FILLED)

The role of the Vice President(s) is to assist the President in providing leadership to the club members and to be a representative of the club to the soccer community.

The VP of Administration will focus on the Club policy & Bylaw development, Core values – mission and vision, Club promotion, External meetings and forums, general club operations support.  They will provide input and assistance with the creation of new programs and policies, to enhance the club and promote further growth of the membership. Coordinate Club planning to ensure appropriate plans are developed, presented to and reviewed by the Committee, and enacted as required.

They will also assist with conflict resolutions for the Club.

Treasurer

(POSITION FILLED)

The Treasurer shall be responsible for providing oversight on all financial matters of the Club, shall act as a signing authority for the Club and shall deposit all Club related funds to the Club bank account.

Registrar

(POSITION FILLED)

The Registrar will lead and assist with Club registration, team evaluations and formation, submission of team rosters to Calgary Minor Soccer Association, receiving and answering emails, telephone messages regarding Club, attending monthly Board meetings, communicating information to Board Members, Calgary Minor Soccer, contacting and working with volunteers, club coaches and managers.

Secretary

The Secretary shall attend all meetings of the directors and members, and record all facts and minutes of all proceedings in the books kept for that purpose. The Secretary shall give all notices that are required to be given to members and to directors. The Secretary shall be the custodian of the Club and of all books, papers, records, correspondence, contracts and other documents belonging to the Club which he shall deliver up only when authorized by a resolution of the Board of Directors to do so, and to only such person or persons as may be named in the resolution.

Director of Coaching

The Director of Coaching will act as a direct contact for all MSB coaches.  They will be responsible for answering any questions that MSB coaches may have and act as a liason between the coaches, the Board and the technical training team. They will assist the board of directors with any coaching related disciplinary issues.

Age Group Coordinator

(We currently need AGCs for U13 & U15)

Provide any pertinent information to coaches throughout the season.

Sponsor / Donations Coordinator

(Position available)

Coordinate and research sponsorship opportunities for the club. Support teams with fund raising initiatives.

Assistant Coach

(Positions available)

Assist the head coach during practices and games. If you wish to apply to coach a team, please fill out our coaching application.

Casino Volunteer

(Positions available - volunteers needed)

Assist with various positions for the MSB Casino night. Shifts are available.

Casino dates are November 19 and 20, 2019

Coach

(Positions available)

Assume coaching responsibilities for a team. Requires CPIC (Police Check) and completion of online Respect in Soccer (RIS) program. If you wish to apply to coach a team, please fill out our coaching application.

Communications

(Position available)

Handling of incoming emails to the club and forwarding to the appropriate director or Age Group Coordinator. Responsible for hiring advertising and booking registration venues. Also includes advertising for MSB.

Community Clean Up

(Positions available when requested)

Attend the NHCA area community clean-up of parks and neighborhoods.

Equipment Assistant

(Position filled)

Assists the Equipment Manager to help organize all equipment for each season. This is a big job at the start and the end of each season. More then one volunteer many be required.

Equipment Manager

(Position available)

Responsible for distributing and collecting all club equipment to teams. This includes managing the MSB Equipment Shed located on Sandarac Drive.

Evaluation Volunteer

(Positions available)

Responsible for running a skill session during evaluations. Demonstrating and recording players scores.

Field Permit Coordinator (Outdoor only)

(Position filled)

Assigning practice and game fields to teams.

Field Volunteer (Outdoor only)

(Positions available)

Assist lining/painting outdoor fields.

Grassroots Wind Up Coordinator (Outdoor only)

(Position available)

Responsible for organizing for the U6 Wind Up Party at the end of June.

Grassroots Wind Up Party Volunteer (Outdoor only)

Assisting the U6-U8 Age Group Coordinators & Wind-up Coordinator. Wind-up Party in June

Gym Permits Coordinator (Indoor Only)

(Position filled)

Responsible for assigning practice gym times.

Hitmen Hockey (Indoor Only)

(Positions available seasonally)

Volunteer to help out the coordinator for the Hitmen Hockey Game event on TBA. This is either before the event (ticket coordination) or during the event.

Team Manager

(Positions available)

Assists the coach with team organization and ensures that all volunteer responsibilities of parents on the team have been carried out. Communicate this information to the volunteer coordinator.

Tournament Manager (Outdoor Only)

Plan and execute MSB United Soccer Club’s Annual Outdoor Tournament

Tournament Volunteers (Outdoor Only)

(Positions available)

Answer questions regarding Tournaments. Verify player rosters by comparing the official CMSA roster to the tournament roster. Collect game sheets after games. Medal presenters. Field Set Up/Tear down, and other roles determined by the Tournament Manager.

Uniform Coordinator

Will assist Equipment Manager with the distribution of uniforms.

Volunteer Coordinator

Recruiting/Assigning volunteers for various duties throughout the season.

Website / Social Media Assistant

(Position filled)

Assists the Website Administrator to manage social media and assist with content updates to the website.

Website Administrator

Maintain club website, R&D of new platforms, improve club operations.
